Near Drowning

Case Review

This pediatric near-drown case begins with a scenario of a 6-year-old child who falls into a lake and is found 15-20 minutes later face down in the water. The simulation follows the detailed advanced health care given to this child from the moment he arrives in the emergency department with basic life support being performed to the reversal of his traumatized wet lungs at which time the mechanical ventilator is being weaned off.
