Outcomes

As mentioned before, intervention is more effective when started with younger children who have fewer mental and physical comorbidities. Interventions with a behaviorist rationale have been useful. Because children present with a wide variation of abilities, no single intervention fits all, and prognosis varies widely.

The bottom line is that children should be evaluated by professionals experienced in neurological disorders as soon as ASD is suspected.
