Managing Medication Adverse Effects Post Kidney Transplant

Hospital Readmission

After 4 or 5 days Joan was readmitted due to worsening renal function again and was found to have a reaccumulation of fluid around the transplant kidney. A renal biopsy detected no evidence of rejection. Fluid was drained and the drain was left in with improvement in renal function.

She was admitted again 10 days later with acute renal insufficiency. She continued to have good drainage from the lymphocele drain. A renal scan showed no evidence of renal artery stenosis. With hydration her renal function improved.

She continued to be followed in the transplant clinic every week.
