Managing Medication Adverse Effects Post Kidney Transplant

Conclusion

Joan is now 18 months after her second transplant. Percocet® and K-Phos® have been stopped.

Looking back, Joan has identified the side effects of her various medications as the most difficult part of her recovery process. She feels it took her the entire first year "to be back to normal." Luckily, Joan has adequate insurance coverage, so that she and her husband could bear the financial burden of co-pays for both her hospitalizations and medications. She still says transplantation has been "worth all the trouble" compared to her previous experience with dialysis 3 times a week. Joan's most recent creatinine is 1.9 and stable. She is being seen in the transplant clinic every 6 months.
