Physician noted obvious swelling and effusion. Knee flexion was limited secondary to pain. No medial laxity noted, but anterior drawer test was positive. Plain radiographs and MRI were performed, with results showing a torn ACL and possible medial meniscus tear. Patient was placed in knee immobilizer and used crutches weight bearing as tolerated (WBAT). Patient was referred to physical therapy for a pre-operative evaluation. Surgery was scheduled for 12/20/96.
