Therapy Progress

Week 3

Physical Therapy

Discussed discontinuing outpatient and starting inpatient rehab with parents.

Therapeutic exercise: prone on ball to standing with arms and trunk supported on ball, minimum to moderate assistance for upper extremity weight bearing and alignment; bolster swing straddle position 10 min with and without arms holding straps, minimum to moderate assistance;
tailor sitting minimum assistance; 90/90 static/dynamic sitting balance while eating with minimum assistance; tall kneeling with arms on swing with moderate assistance; arms supported during standing on bolster swing with moderate assistance for 5 min.

Transfers: sit to stand with minimum assistance; stand to sit with minimum to moderate assistance; sit to stand in and out of wheelchair with moderate assistance.

Gait: 50 feet with moderate to maximum assistance x 2.

Some PT and OT co-treatments.

Occupational Therapy

Increased arm strength, using R arm more.

Therapeutic exercise: hand held assistance for reaching; finger isolation to pop bubbles, but no visual tracking; ball squeezes with hand held assistance; sat on bolster swing with maximum trunk support; sat in chair with contact guard to moderate assistance; hand held assistance and support at elbow needed for pinch grasp; minimum to moderate assistance to put food in mouth; weight bearing activities for arms and legs on ball.

Transfers: pushed self up from floor using shoulders.


Why would the parents and therapists want Katie to be re-admitted to the hospital after starting her outpatient therapy?
