Posterior Fossa Syndrome

Therapy Progress

Week 1

Physical Therapy

Patient was alert with occasional agitation.

Therapeutic exercise: 90/90 sitting for postural stabilization/postural control and awareness; trunk strengthening: moderate assistance;
head and neck control: minimum to moderate to stand by assistance;
prone on ball for sensory input including up on elbows with moderate to maximal assistance, and tall kneeling over ball with maximal assistance.

Transfers: Wheelchair to mat with a stand pivot maximal assistance x 2; sit to supine: moderate to maximal assistance; rolling: stand by assistance.

Gait: 5 feet in parallel bars with maximal assistance x 2 improved to 20 feet maximal assistance x 2; balance activity in parallel bars for 2 minutes with maximal assistance x 2.

Occupational Therapy

Pt. in W/C, not engaged in activity.

Therapeutic exercise: 90/90 sitting with functional reach activities with hand held assistance, right arm flaccid, active movement only during extreme agitation; ROM to shoulder, elbow & wrist; propped self up on elbows with moderate assistance, no weight bearing through arms.

Transfers: rolling side to side with maximum assistance.
