
Her mother is 74 years old, her father is 75 years old and both are moderately overweight. Her mother has hypertension, osteoarthritis, and high cholesterol. Her father has a history of a myocardial infarction at age 59 years and quadruple coronary artery bypass surgery at age 67 years.
She has two siblings; a 46 y/o sister (who is normal weight) and a 51 y/o brother (who is overweight). Her brother has type 2 DM, gout, borderline hypertension, and has been told he has high cholesterol. Her sister has been diagnosed with high cholesterol and borderline high triglycerides, but her high density lipoprotein (HDL) is also high. High HDL imparts lower risk for CVD in the presence of high cholesterol and triglycerides. [50] Neither sibling has a diagnosed heart or lung abnormality.
