Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura

Physical Examination

Upon physical examination, the clinician noticed scattered petechiae (pinpoint hemorrhages from arterioles or venules) over the inner thighs and the upper extremities. She was slightly pale and appeared jaundiced. Except for a slightly elevated temperature of 100°F, her vital signs were normal. Examination of her heart and reflexes were unremarkable. Her abdomen was soft and not tender. Routine laboratory tests were ordered.
