Risk Factors in Coronary Artery Disease

Family History


The patient has a family history of coronary artery disease. His father was diagnosed with coronary artery disease at 60 years of age. He subsequently underwent triple bypass surgery. The patient's paternal grandfather died of a heart attack at the age of sixty.

Social History

The patient is married. He is employed as a laboratory manager in a leading clinical diagnostic laboratory. Although he enjoys his work, he works long hours and often takes work home with him. He takes few vacations and even on vacation he maintains contact with his laboratory. His wife accuses him of being a chronic workaholic who is always under considerable stress.
