Risk Factors in Coronary Artery Disease

Diagnosis

The patient's ECG and ETT were normal; however, his laboratory tests and family history suggest that he is at high risk for atherosclerosis. The presence of the small dense LDL subparticles, together with the low HDL and high triglycerides put him at an increased risk for myocardial infarction and make him a candidate for interventive therapy.

The patient's occasional chest pain could be due to the stress and strain of overwork. Anxiety can lead to physical symptoms of hyperventilation like chest pain, palpitation, and shortness of breath. These symptoms often get confused with symptoms of angina or heart attack.
