Suggestions for a Successful Exercise Program

  • Exercise with other people in an environment where you can get your questions answered.
  • Start slowly and have realistic expectations.
  • Make exercise a social event.

Doing something is better than doing nothing. Doing something that feels comfortable to you means you will be more likely to continue.

Woman doing stretching exercises.Start off slowly. You don't have to do everything out of the gate. Begin with exercises you enjoy, such as walking, stretching, or water exercises.

Choose exercises which are comfortable for you. You can always add more as you increase in strength and endurance. Eventually you can create a comprehensive program for yourself. It may take weeks, months, or years to become a regular exerciser so don't get discouraged.
