Introduction

Patient Presents

Sam Cooper, a 25-year-old white male, presented to his primary care physician in March, 1994 with complaints of severely blurred vision in both eyes and a 10-pound weight loss over the past six months. Examination revealed malignant hypertension with BP of 219/142 and hemorrhages and exudates in both eyes. Urinalysis showed significant proteinuria. All other review of systems was negative.
