Nancy Kell is an 80-year-old retired librarian who resides in Columbia, Missouri with her husband, Frank. She and Frank met in high school in Rolla, Missouri, married, graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia and returned to Rolla to teach high school until they retired at 65. He taught science and she was the librarian.
After they retired they moved to Columbia to be near their divorced daughter, Nadine, with whom they share a duplex, and to enjoy the "Mizzou games and social activities." Their home was custom-built for aging in place, with wide doors, no steps and one-level accessibility. The Kells have an adult son who is married with 4 teenage children. He and his family reside in Seattle, Washington and visit the Kells 1 or 2 times per year.
The Kells have no pets. They were avid travelers and spent a good deal of time RVing, golfing and biking during the summer when they were teaching, and then full time, after they retired until they both turned 73. That year Frank received the first of his 3 coronary artery stents and Nancy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Since then they have both been experiencing multiple health problems. They report they have stayed close to home for the past 7 years and enjoy looking over their many photo albums.
Mrs. Kell is the eldest of 4 children. Both her brothers died in their 30's from work-related accidents and her sister died at age 74 of heart disease complicated by diabetes. Her mother died at the age of 83 of complications of diabetes and her father also died at 83 from heart disease.
