Objectives


  1. Describe what types of patients will and will not benefit from an interdisciplinary geriatric assessment team.
  2. Describe what advantages accrue to patients from an interdisciplinary geriatric assessment approach.
  3. Identify the most common primary symptoms of Parkinson's Disease.
  4. Describe services available from physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, health psychology, and respiratory therapy to meet the needs of older adults who have complex medical issues.
  5. Be familiar with the impact of vision loss from macular degeneration on the performance of daily activities.
  6. Develop an interdisciplinary plan of action for this case, incorporating services to manage risk factors, and considering caregiver and client education.
  7. Describe the role of the team leader when using the Interdisciplinary Geriatric Assessment (IGA) form to facilitate an interdisciplinary team meeting.
